Norwood is Hiring a Maintenance Director Near Norwood, MA

Job Overview Summary:

Responsible for directing, performing, and supervising the TELs Maintenance program. The Maintenance supervisor will implement an effective maintenance program as set forth in the TELs system. Will hire and /or discharge personnel necessary to the standards set forth in the TELs program Any maintenance personnel will be continuously evaluated for quality of work, so those standards can be met.

Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below.

Functions:

Administrative Functions

  • Interview, hire, orient, counsel, discipline, and discharge any maintenance personnel: conduct and/ or participate in orientation and in-service programs: make rounds of the facility daily to complete task as listed on the TELs check list, observe maintenance problems: review work orders: schedule any other maintenance personnel: make up supply orders and maintain necessary inventory: receive all supps, check, enter vendor/ supplier invoices int the Accounting system: meet with Safety Committee, Water Management Committee, Disaster Committee, and any other committees as requested: attend morning meeting and weekly Department Head meetings. Participate in the Manager on Duty rotation.
  • Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the aid of Mechanical Devices): Walking, sitting, standing, ability to read and write in English, ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel and support agencies, ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions and ability to remain calm under stress.

Maintenance Functions

  • Maintain, repair and Paint, building, equipment, machinery: conduct and maintain Logs on test of Life Safety Equipment, conduct drills, maintain records: perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or Without the aid of Mechanical Devices): Walking, standing, stoops, Kneels, bends, and climbs: May have to work in awkward positions, subject to burns, cuts, and falls. Involves heavy lifting and moving.

Resident Rights Functions

  • Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect; ensure that all personnel know and comply with Resident’s rules; monitor services to ensure that resident’s needs and rights are met.
  • Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the aid of Mechanical Devices): Ability to communicate with residents and personnel, ability to read and write in English and ability to remain calm under stress.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma with previous experience in maintenance work and a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. (Required). Prior experience in the long-term care environment, specifically maintenance and preventative maintenance needs for elderly population (Preferred).
